Faith & Beliefs: Our Pathway

We believe that faith is a journey best taken together. Our "North Star" is the Bible, and the following core convictions shape our community. At SCOG, we express these beliefs through a simple pathway: Know, Grow, and Go.

The Foundation

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority in all matters of faith and life. Everything we teach and do is rooted in the scriptures. We exist to equip the people of God for works of service so the body of Christ may be built up (Ephesians 4:12).

Core Tenets of Our Faith

The Nature of God: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Salvation: We believe that through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are offered forgiveness and a restored relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit: We believe in the "Spirit-empowered life," that the Holy Spirit lives within every believer, providing the power to live a holy life.

Baptism in the Holy Spirit: We believe in the Baptism in the Holy Spirit as a distinct experience following salvation. It is an empowering for witness and service, often accompanied by the initial physical sign of speaking in other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance.

Baptism & Communion: We practice Water Baptism by immersion as a public declaration of faith and observe the Lord's Supper (Communion) to remember Christ’s sacrifice.

The Church: We believe the Church is the "ONE Body" on earth, called to share the Gospel and care for the hurting.

Living Our Faith:

Growth Track

Our beliefs aren't just ideas; they are actions. We use the Growth Track to help you take your next step in faith through the ONE process:

1. KNOW (Observe)

We believe in becoming part of the ONE Body. This starts by discovering who we are, what we believe, and how God is moving in this church.

Core Value: Christ-Centered & Unity.

2. GROW (Nurture)

We believe every believer is "God’s handiwork" (Ephesians 2:10). We grow through discipleship, community, and discovering our unique spiritual gifts. We move from just "attending" to contributing.

Core Value: Community.

3. GO (Equip)

We believe we are called to lead by serving. Through the ONE Team, we connect our purpose to action, stewarding our gifts to serve others just as Jesus served.

Core Value: Servanthood & Mission.
